Cross-Border Structured Finance. Ms. Nordgren advises a broad range of clients with respect to complex cross-border structured finance transactions in Africa, the Middle East, Russia/CIS, Asia and Latin America. She has advised clients on projects in more than sixty countries. Her firm’s clients include companies doing business with international and development financial institutions, including OPIC, the IFC and EBRD.

Private Equity Funds. Ms. Nordgren’s clients include several private equity funds investing in emerging market companies, including microfinance institutions, SMEs and financial service providers. Ms. Nordgren represented Sarona Asset Management in OPIC’s first fund-of-funds facility and has advised OPIC on several fund transactions in Asia and Latin America.

Loan Guaranties. Ms. Nordgren developed and closed fifteen guaranty facilities, representing $1.3 billion of OPIC-guaranteed debt, to support loans made by Citibank in Africa, the Middle East, Russia/CIS, Asia and Latin America. These facilities formed the foundation for numerous risk-sharing facilities between OPIC and other financial institutions worldwide. Ms. Nordgren currently represents Worldbusiness Capital, Inc. in connection with loans made to middle market businesses, projects, and financial institutions worldwide under a framework guaranty agreement with OPIC.

Microfinance. Ms. Nordgren’s clients include private equity funds investing in microfinance institutions, as well as microfinance banks and microfinance investment vehicles. Ms. Nordgren advises clients with respect to debt and equity investments, microfinance loans, restructurings and investment exits. FINCA, the microfinance bank, is one of her firm’s first clients.

Political Risk Insurance. Ms. Nordgren advises clients on political risk insurance for emerging markets transactions. She has documented numerous OPIC insurance contracts, negotiated claim settlements and managed claim recoveries. Ms. Nordgren has also negotiated bilateral investment treaties and successfully concluded two international arbitrations matters.
